Two new EBVchips announced following the newly formed cooperation between EBV Elektronik, RoodMicrotec and Fraunhofer IIS
EBV Elektronik, RoodMicrotec and Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits IIS have joined forces for the production and marketing of Fraunhofer IIS ready-to-use chip IP.
It doesn’t take a
genius to know that when three major leading companies in the field of IC team
up together to form a disruptive cooperation, it means that only innovative
things can be headed our way!
Why is this
cooperation so exciting? Over the last 10 years the IC technology industry has
almost doubled in growth and its predicted growth over the next 5 years is set
to continue at a rapid rate. It seems that right now is the absolute perfect
time for such an alliance and for all involved in the IC industry.
Since last years
embedded world, EBV has been working behind the scenes on its dynamic EBVchips
start-up support platform. This enables EBV to support IC driven start-ups
within the program and offers marketing and sales services for new IC
technologies.
Teaming up with Fraunhofer IIS, one of the world’s leading application-oriented research institutions for microelectronic and IT system solutions and services, will allow Fraunhofer IIS to use EBVchips as a marketing and sales platform.
A further cooperation
with RoodMicrotec, a leading independent European company for Semiconductor
Supply and Quality Services, completes the ‘dream-team’ and they will perform
turnkey manufacturing services for the EBVchips.
Frank-Steffen Russ,
Director Vertical Markets at EBV Elektronik when asked about the cooperation said:
“We are very delighted about this cooperation between EBV Elektronik,
RoodMicrotec and Fraunhofer IIS. Start-ups in the IC technology area will have
the opportunity to benefit from the expertise and knowledge of these three
companies in this high-growth sector”.
With the news of this
cooperation also comes the launch of two new exciting EBVchips:
RFicient® Basic, Ultra-Low-Power Wakeup Receiver – this IC solution will enable customers to optimize the power consumption for various IoT applications thereby increasing battery lifetime dramatically.
s-net® – this module solution is based on ST Micro’s ‘Spirit’ RF transceiver (S-NET-MOD-868AM1) and enables customer to build extreme low power nodes in IoT Mesh networks.
If this is a teaser of
what to expect from this new cooperation, then we cannot wait to see what else
they have in store for the future!
