Following the first two days today has been another successful, crowded and fun day at the electronica 2014 here in Munich. Two absolutely smart presentations with EBV employees and partners, innovative demos at our EBV booth, receiving an award from NXP and a social media race with the Oculus Rift Gear.
NXP Award
The first highlight of our day took place at the booth of NXP where we received a bronze commodity award. Thank you NXP we are honoured!
Presentation of Altera and EBV at the Embedded Forum
Under the title “Accelerating Motor Control Algorithms with SoC FPGAs”Altera and EBV presented how an advanced drive control system is implemented on an Altera System-on-Chip device, including complex control algorithms and interfacing to external devices and power electronics. The presentation showed how hardware calculations such as FFTs are accelerated in the FPGA, while keeping the main algorithm flow in C on soft or hard processors.
Trends in SSL Lighting – Electronic Designs for Lighting (panel discussion)
At the electronica forum in hall A3 Sebastian Hülck, our Vertical Segment Director for Lighting took place in an interactive technical panel discussion on “Trends in Solid-State Lighting”, which was aimed at engineers and researchers. The discussion introduced the current innovations and highlight key technical aspects of electronic designs for lighting applications. The panel consisted out of CTOs, heads of R&D from leading companies and entrepreneurs.
Wireless Communication for the Automotive Industry
At our booth we show a very cool demo which visualises the possible connected communication inside of a future vehicle. The System enables the driver to connect his smartphone to a dashboard. As soon as the connection is established it is possible to control the handset, the rear seat entertainment and the car functions e.g. the A/C via one touchscreen. The very cool demonstration in cooperation with Peiker can be tested tomorrow at our booth in hall A5, so stop by and check it out!
Social Media connects EBV to Atmel, Texas Instruments and RS Components
Another highlight of the day was the great and fun video game race of the Social Media Teams of Texas Instruments, Atme,l RS Components and EBV in Hall A 4 using the Oculus Rift virtual reality glasses. We might have been lucky or just have selected the best game controller – whatever it was EBV took the lead and won the game. It was very entertaining and great to see how easy and well young developers can connect via Twitter and how much cool stuff we can do together in the future online.
We also met Atmel’s AVR Man in front of our booth and took a nice picture!
As always, here some additional impressions: [vc_gallery type=”flexslider_fade” interval=”3″ images=”2784,2785,2786,2787,2788,2789,2790,2791,2792,2793″ onclick=”link_image” custom_links_target=”_self” title=”ELECTRONICA DAY 3 IMPRESSIONS” img_size=”large”]
