Many changes could be observed in the semiconductor market in the recent times. Chip makers buy others in order to broaden their portfolio, to generate synergy effects and to be able to offer better services and more products to their customers. For instance, the ink of the Freescale-NXP merger has hardly dried yet, when further news received us from the Dutch semiconductor manufacturer NXP. Nexperia, NXP’s former standard product business, now strikes out in its own.
It has been announced on June 14, 2016, that Nexperia would be divested from NXP to a consortium of financial investors consisting JAC Capital and Wise Road Capital. In February this year the transaction was finally closed. Distribution channels will play an important role for the company turnover. Here EBV Elektronik will come into play. Time to introduce our newest line card member in more detail.
Headquartered in Nijmegen, Netherlands, Nexperia employs around 11 thousand employees worldwide, which is a fourth of NXP’s staff. Their products will be produced at two front-end facilities in Manchester (UK) and Hamburg (Germany). Furthermore, Nexperia operates three factories for assembling and packaging semiconductor wafers in China, Malaysia, and the Philippines.
The dedicated global leader in Discretes, Logic and MOSFETs devices produces consistently reliable semiconductor components at high volume. It is planned to produce around 85 billion components annually at their sites in Europe and Asia. The focus will be on three core areas: performance efficiency, circuit protection and filtering, and miniaturization. The automotive industry will especially be targeted, and most of their products meet the strict automotive standard AEC-Q101. Further important markets are mobile devices, Industrial, communication infrastructure, consumer electronics and computing.
The timing of the spin-off could not have been better, so close prior to the leading international fair for embedded systems – embedded world 2017 in Nuremberg. Nexperia will have its own space within the NXP booth, showcasing their latest introductions in Logic, Discretes and MOSFETs.
Furthermore, TeamNexperia can be met at the EBV booth too. We dedicate an entire workstation for their products and solution. Visitors will see high efficient solutions for LED lighting. The team will demonstrate high current 150mA operating, 100Hz operation and 1:100 dimming ratio. Besides that the demo can be NFC (Near Field Communication) controlled.
So stop by on the EBV booth from March 14 -16 in hall 3A and get to know our new supplier partner Nexperia and their portfolio. Hit our embedded world event page in order to get your free ticket.
