It’s often not easy for designers of Industry 4.0 and other high-end consumer electronic systems to identify the right components for their applications. The STSPIN32F0 comes in a convenient and space-efficient system-in-package. It combines a microcontroller and an analog IC in a tiny 7mm x 7mm QFN (Quad Flat No-Lead) package. A streamlined and simplified development of smart, feature-packed, precision motion controls will be ensured by power-control libraries and algorithms available from the rich STM32 ecosystem, which includes a full range of software tools, firmware libraries, and middleware. These advantages are perfect for the development of smart-manufacturing equipment, power tools, and cooling fans. Inside the QFN package operates an STM32F0 microcontroller (MCU), which features the ARM® Cortex®-M0 core. Motor-control algorithms are hosted in the MCU that provide the fast algorithm execution times needed for precision control of torque and speed up to high rotations. A triple half-bridge gate driver is capable of handling currents of 600mA, which enables designers to select from lots of power MOSFETs based on the rating of their motor. The internal DC/DC buck converter provides the 3.3V voltage suitable to supply both the MCU and external components while an internal LDO linear regulator provides the 12V supply voltage for gate drivers. In order to ensure security, the MCU also has read- and write-protection to protect the embedded Flash memory against unwanted access. Features like over-temperature and under-voltage lockout protections as well as a standby mode to reduce power consumption can be found.
